Hailing from a family of passionate and successful sailors, Jaime Ryan is making her own mark on Australian Sailing. Together with crewmate Tess Lloyd, she spearheads the 49er FX class.
The pair managed to sail in an overall result of 13th in Tokyo – a great effort.
Jaime spoke with us prior to her departure and in the below video reveals her favourite Ronstan part. Watch to learn more about Jaime and pick up a few tips on the way. Her smile is contagious.
Tess Lloyd started sailing at just five years of age and always dreamed of going to an Olympic Games. The talented young sailor was deemed, the ‘one to watch.’ Things were certainly looking on track until a terrifying accident occurred where she sustained a major head injury during the 2012 Australian Youth Championships in Brisbane. It took 12 months of learning to walk and talk again and she can share an incredible tale of her fight back, working hard with plenty of resilience building. Her Olympic dreams to one day represent Australia never waivered despite all of this and now 8 years later she, alongside Jaime Ryan has just competed at the Tokyo Olympics in the 49erFX class. Full cudos for the pair.
